Micromax Canvas HD A116 Announced: Review, Price and Availability

Indian Smartphone market has picked up momentum in recent years. While Samsung, Apple, HTC and the likes have gone from strength to strength in the field, their Indian counterparts have progressed to. Micromax, for example, has come a long way from its humble origins to launching one after another Smartphone of its flagship Canvas series. CEO of Micromax has said that they will be releasing 30 devices in the market very shortly. Recently, they have announced Micromax Canvas HD A116.

Micromax Canvas HD A116 looks like a typical mid range Smartphone with rounded corners on a candy bar shaped build. It has touch buttons on the front with volume buttons on the left side of the phone and the lock screen button on right. The back cover has a slight bulge and the camera is situated along the median line near the top of the back cover. But when compared to other Canvas phones, this phone is much slimmer and thinner.

Micromax Canvas HD A116 Display

Micromax Canvas HD A116 has a 5 inch HD IPS screen. Despite the sprawling screen, thanks to the ingenuity of design perhaps, it does not feel too chunky. The HD resolution of the phone is 1280 x 720 p which is quite impressive. It has a pixel density of 294 ppi.

Hardware

The hardware of Micromax Canvas HD A116 is surprisingly good. It has a quad core Media Tek MT6589 Cortex A7 CPU clocked at 1.2 GHz. It has 1GB of RAM and PowerVR Series 5XT GPU. This means that the graphics heavy apps and multi-tasking will not be a problem. If you like loading your phone with apps, it won’t be a problem either thanks to 4GB of internal memory. The memory can be extender by external microSD card up to 32 GB.

Micromax Canvas HD A116 has a 8 MP rear facing camera decked with LED flash and 4x zoom. It also has a front facing VGA camera which helps in video chatting.

The camera packs a 2100 mAh standard battery. Connectivity is another aspect users are content with: it has 3.5 mm headphone jack, 3G compatibility, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth and even GPS connectivity.

Software

The Micromax Canvas HD A116 will come equipped with Android Jelly Bean 4.1 Operating System. Once the phone actually hits the market we would be able to tell how the OS works in tandem with the phone’s UI. An Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update is on the cards as well.

Price of Micromax Canvas HD A116

Micromax Canvas HD A116 will be available at stores by the end of February at a modest price under Rs. 13,990. Presently it is available only from the official website of Micromax

2013 is all set to be an exciting year in terms of Smartphones. But Micromax, with its Canvas range, has proved that the excitement will not be confined in high end phones, but stir even the mid range market. Overall, Micromax Canvas HD A116 is worth spending Rs. 15,000 on.

      Hello Sudhanshu verma
Going for Micromax phones wont be a good decision. No doubt they provide better specs at a very less price when compared to other brands like SAMSUNG, Sony and NOKIA. Actually the problem with Micromax is the customer support. It will always be wise to go with Xperia phones.

Hey sanjib i wanted to ask a ques….
Micromax canvas HD may have very good features and it may be working amazingly well but my ques is that can it serve me for 3 to 4 years? What is the guarantee that it will function effectively for 3-4 years

      • Sanjib Saha says:

        Hello Siddharth!
That is a very good question! Many of you might have this question in mind that in a long run, how Micromax canvas HD is going to perform. Let’s be honest. I would never recommend anyone to go for Micromax phones. They provide a very good features at a low price, which is good. But the customer satisfaction of Micromax has been really annoying and frustrating. I am not too sure that this phone will run for 3-4 years without any dis functioning, problems might be there, for which if you give it to customer care centre of Micromax may take more than a month to repair it.
There remains always an element of doubt with Micromax products!

    Hello Sanjib
I want a phone atleast 3-4 years durable
    minimum specs-
    1 gb RAM
    good processor(1GHz dual core)
    good camera(atleast 5MP)
    ICS
    5″
    suggest me a good phone

    • Sanjib Saha says:

      Hello Abdul
That depends on your budget, as you have not mentioned your budget, it will be difficult for me to answer. If you have a High Budget, you can always go for Galaxy Note 2 ( the best smartphone so far ).
Small budget phones includes -A500 from Xolo, Micromamax Canvas Phones ( Micromax A110, Canvas 2, Canvas 3). If your budget is around 20k, I would highly recommend Galaxy Grand Duos. If you need some discounts on Galaxy Grand, let me know, I can help you with that. :)
